About Safety for Kids

Is sewing with a sewing machine safe for little kids?

Each class is limited to four (4) students only.

I don't have a sewing machine. Do I have to buy one?

No. Sewing machines and basic sewing tools will be provided in the studio.

What do I need to bring to class?

All you need to bring is your own fabric and notions (buttons, elastic, thread, etc) needed to complete your project. A limited supply of notions are available and can be purchased by the student for emergencies.

Regular classes are for one (1) hour, once a week (4-week module).

Adult classes usually are 2.5 hours once a week. Schedules may differ depending on the type of workshop.

Do you have classes for adults?

Yes! Please see Adults Classes.

Do you only offer classes during the summer?

Regular classes are ongoing throughout the year. School year starts in June/July through March, with seasonal breaks.

Sewing Camps are held during summer (April and May) and during seasonal school breaks.

What if I miss a class? Do you give make-up classes?

If a student misses a class, a makeup class is given at the end of the school year (sometime end of March). Only a maximum of three (3 hours) makeup classes can be given per student. For absences due to illness or physical injuries, please present a medical certificate from your family doctor.

Adults Classes and Summer Camps are not eligible for makeup classes.

About Tuition and Pattern Packets

How many classes does the tuition fee cover?

Regular tuition fee covers four 1 hour classes in a month (once a week).

For adults, tuition covers two 2.5 hour classes (once a week for 2 weeks).

What if the student doesn't finish all the projects in the pattern packet?

Each Student Pattern Packet (kids & teens) has enough lessons to last for up to 9 to 12 months depending on the student's age and pace. When the projects in the packet are completed, the student moves up to the next level and will purchase a new pattern packet.

Can Student Pattern Packets be shared with a friend or sibling?

Patterns will be cut according to the student's specific size; therefore, each student must use her own individual pattern and manual to work on.
